Quincy Jones talking VIBE, "I'm working on buying it back right as we speak".

This is what I like to call the "last man on the sinking ship" phenomenon. Let me explain. You have a sinking ship... you're the last person to realize that it's going to kill you if you stay on it... but you don't care because you think things will get better.
The latest victim? The legendary Quincy Jones. In this week's JET, the producing legend says he's working towards buying back the magazine he started to keep it from shutting down permanently. His reasoning:
".. We gotta get into the 21st century you know. Print and all that stuff is over, we gotta remember that. The Chicago Tribune, The Seattle Post Intelligencer. The Miami Herald. They're over the same wa as the record business. We have got to get into this century." (Ebony Jet)
I will give him the credit of being a great businessman, he's a genius. But something about this logic doesn't seem right. You're Quincy Jones... you can get handed a pile of pig vomit and make a 10-course meal... you can take a tin can and make a #1 epic smash on the billboard charts with 10 grammys to follow.
Why not take your knowledge and create something new? You even admitted that we have to get into this century and realize the digital impact we have, why not start there... to me it would be immensely easier to create something like thisis50 or allhiphop, or Street Rich (;-) did.
I think the main struggle he'll have will be reconditioning his followers to follow VIBE from the horrendous monthly subscriptions to an online marketplace.
I'm not hating, I hope he succeeds... I just see a tough road for him.
